Version 0469: Play with lights and new levels!


Hey all!

In this update I wanted to add a bit of visual oomph to the game by adding lights. For example now shooting grenades and teleports feels more satisfying visually: both the grenade and teleport ammo have lights attached to them, so when a player is shooting, it looks more like gun fire, as the player character is lit up and also when the grenade or teleport is moving through the level the nearby environment is lit up. When you detonate a grenade, it creates a brief flash of light. Also the bouncing spikes have lights now. I'm still experimenting, if adding more lights would improve the visual style or not (and I also need to make sure that the performance doesn't suffer).

Previously I got some feedback that it has been a bit unclear to some players that the teleport doors will be deactivated when a player or a  spike is inside them. For example if there's a player inside the teleport door, and another player tries to teleport to that teleport door. But because the teleport door is deactivated, the other player will actually teleport and switch places with the player who is inside the teleport door. To make this behaviour more clear, I'm trying if the teleport door would have a light that would turn off, when the door is deactivated . So when there's for example a player (or a spike) inside the door, the light of the door will turn off (to indicate that the door is now deactive).

And of course there's new levels (in the full version): levels 87 and 88:
